According to IEC norms, voltages higher than 1kV are high voltage. However, in practice, for ease of equipment and system identification, 1-36kV is accepted as medium voltage. Depending on the country, MV systems and cables can be found at different voltage levels such as 6.3, 10, 11, 12, 15, 20, 24, 36kV. Both copper and aluminum are used as conductors.
